Annals of Oncology-commentaar: chemotherapie-sparende aanpak bij vroeg-stadium seminoom en non-seminoom

When a patient and his provider are faced with a new diagnosis of TGCT, they encounter a number of different therapeutic paths; all leading to highly reliable cure of the disease. The natural tendency both for patients and providers is to briskly achieve the goal of cure so as to put cancer behind them. This haste in patients with early stage TGCT is most often unnecessary and we should think beyond that reliable cure. Focus should be on the most parsimonious approach by applying therapeutic pathways that not only assure cure, but cure with the lowest burden of near- and long-term toxicity for the largest number of patients, In our opinion, this approach will effectively ensure fully optimized outcomes.
