De 5-jaars follow-up van CheckMate 649 toont aanhoudende overlevingswinst van nivolumab + chemotherapie als eerstelijnsbehandeling bij gevorderd, HER2-negatief gastro-oesofageaal adenocarcinoom. Bij patiënten met PD-L1 CPS ≥5 blijft de overleving verbeterd met een duidelijke 'tail' (5-jaars OS 16% vs 6%).
Het ondersteunt nivolumab-combinatie als eerstelijns standaard in de PD-L1-expresserende groep.

The 5-year follow-up results from CheckMate 6491 continue to support nivolumab plus chemotherapy as an effective first-line standard for advanced, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEAC), particularly in programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1)-expressing disease. With a minimum follow-up of 60 months, survival benefits in PD-L1 combined positive score (CPS) ≥5 were sustained, with a clear long-term survival ‘tail’ [5-year overall survival (OS) 16% versus 6%].
